Kolb Rd Bashas employee have become rude! I've witnessed it more than once and experienced it on more than one occasions. Fortunately we all have options where we spend our money. While entering the store on 5/22 at 2:30pm a customer leaving said to me, "wow are they rude today"! Earlier that morning I has a similar experience in the butcher Department.

May 2025. My neighborhood grocer. Been shopping here since 2004 and it has always been a pleasant experience… until recently. Most of the staff are very nice, kind and helpful, but there is this one manager, Gary, who is arrogant, dismissive and totally lacking any empathy or consideration for his customers. I’ve had three unpleasant encounters with him over the last year or so, but yesterday evening's was the last straw. For several weeks, Basha’s has had a promotion on La Vieille Ferme, a common red table wine they sell for $13.99 with a “Member Price” of $8.99. The promotion is a further $5 discount if you buy two, with the price sticker showing a final price of $6.49 per bottle. At the register I noticed that the discount had not been applied and mentioned it to the cashier. Coincidentally Gary was passing by and she asked him about the price. He waved his hand dismissively and retorted that brand would never be priced that low and walked off. As if I were lying. End of story. Not. This is the third time he hasn’t honored a posted price. The consistent attitude he exhibits with me is an arrogant, flippant “the customer is never right; get over it, chump.” I persisted about the displayed price with the young cashier (who in fact was empathetic and ostensibly did not appreciate her manager’s interaction with us); she asked me if I would mind taking a picture of the price sticker to show her. I ran back and snapped a photo (attached herein) and she gave me the discount without quibbling. Well, at least _she_ understands who keeps the lights on in their store. I also asked her for the name of the jerk (because understandably I’m not on a first name basis with someone so rude). In conclusion, I like the store and the people, Nick, Leah, Kathy, Priscilla, Francis, and those whose names escape me but have served me over the years — but I shan’t be doing much business at Bashas due to this one jerk. I don’t want to give him my custom; I want nothing to do with his attitude and behavior. I would rather drive to the Wilmot/Speedway TJ’s where _everyone_ is nice, friendly and helpful to their customers.

The chicken that was advertised on sale could not be found so I asked the "gentleman" that was stocking that area where it was. His response? "I know it's not out here and I don't even know if we have any in back. I'm trying to finish this area." This was the first day of the sales ad so it's not like they ran out of it. I'm also used to responses such as " let me check and see if we have an6 in the back" but I guess I bothered him too much. Don't worry, I won't bother you or anyone else in this store ever again.

The staff at this Bashas’ are incredibly nice, helpful, and the store itself is always clean and well-maintained. I truly appreciate that part of the experience. That said, the prices here have become so high and unrealistic that it’s hard to justify shopping for regular groceries. I find myself going to Trader Joe’s and other stores instead because the cost difference is huge. It’s especially sad and concerning for elders on fixed incomes who rely on local grocery stores. I hope to see more reasonable pricing in the future, because the team here deserves a store that matches their great service.

Service at this store is terrible. I was there last night picking up a DoorDash order and was made to feel stupid because I couldn’t find the one cooler—out of about twenty spread throughout the store—that had the specific energy drinks and alcoholic beverages I needed. After walking around the store for quite a while, I still couldn’t find the drinks the customer ordered. I went to ask for help and walked all the way back to the self-checkout area, where I was ignored for a couple of minutes while the employee working there was in the back having a personal conversation with a friend. Since I wasn’t getting any help, I walked away and went to customer service. The employee there was busy packing groceries and eating and drinking behind the counter. She told me she couldn’t leave, so she tried to get the attention of the self-checkout employee. After about a minute she had to interrupt his conversation just to get him to look in our direction. She asked him if he could help me find the individual drinks. His response was, “They’re back there, just go look,” said with an attitude. He eventually walked over and pointed to an oddly placed cooler sitting at an angle along the wall and said, “They’re right HERE,” again in a very condescending tone, like I should have somehow known exactly where they were. Most stores simply tell you the aisle where items are located. I told him, “I don’t work here every day like you do—sorry I don’t know where everything is.” His response was, “It’s your job.” I grabbed the two drinks and paid for them, but after that experience I will be declining any future deliveries from this store. I’ve never been a fan of Bashas’, and this experience just confirmed why.
