Katie Chasin a month agoVery disappointing experience at the Whole Foods on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington, DC. I bet when you walk into any Woke Foods you’d expected to give a terrible rating. I mean don’t we all go in there thinking - “nice place, they have everything & you expect their customer service to be great?” Yeah? Not at this location- for such a minor thing, they turned it into an hour of my time wasted on such a trivial thing . So - ready because you’ll be pretty surprised by my experience. (And I don’t like to give business’ a bad review. Im partial to giving great reviews where warranted. Sadly - NOT THIS PLACE! After using self-checkout, I accidentally gathered two old receipts that had been left in the machine along with my own receipt. I use receipts for the Fetch app and didn’t think anything of it. I also could have simply thrown them away, but there was no garbage can close by that I saw — the only one I noticed was outside the store. No big deal, right? Wrong! When I asked the security guard for help confirming how many bags I had purchased, she took my receipt and refused to give it back unless I handed over the other receipts. She repeatedly implied I could be using them to scam people because receipts show the last four digits of a card. I found that insulting, embarrassing, and completely unnecessary. This happened in front of other customers, and I was made to feel like I had done something wrong even though I had not stolen anything. I’ve done this a CVS, liquor stores etc. And if people thought they could fungus out how to scam a Whole Foods acct THRU A RECEIPT - wouldn’t you see a lot more people picking up discarded receipts to do this? I’m just a regular mom, nothing more & nothing less. When I asked what policy or law I had violated, no one could clearly explain it. There was no posted policy, no written notice, and nothing visible saying a customer cannot pick up or discard a receipt left behind at self-checkout. If this is truly a store policy, it should be posted and explained professionally — not used as a reason to hold a customer’s receipt and embarrass them. A manager later backed her up, but no one handled the situation with professionalism or basic courtesy. I also spoke with a manager named Xavier when I returned to exchange a snack, and I left feeling dismissed rather than helped. I understand stores may have internal receipt policies, but customers should not be embarrassed, accused, or treated like scammers over something that could have been explained calmly. Whole Foods should train staff at this location to handle situations with more respect, clarity, and common sense.
your pittsburgh friend a month agoThis was a very clean and well-stocked Whole foods, and the food they were offering at their salad bar had plenty of options and was well-made. We had a somewhat rude encounter with an employee at the checkout, but thankfully, when we brought it up, the complaint was shown concern for and was resolved by Whole Foods! We greatly appreciate that!
Tanya Gospodinova 9 months agoBought soup from Whole Foods in Glover Park 2323 Wisconsin Ave. NW DC 20007. The container was leaking, and I address this issue to customer service. She suggests adding another container and packing it in a plastic bag. Live 10 minutes from the store in less traffic. When I came home and opened it, the whole bag was full of liquid through both containers. See the picture attached.
V 4 months agoThey have very high quality meat and seafood, their organic produce is really good... All of it comes at a premium. $$$. Unfortunately, (not unsurprisingly), the quality has declined since Amazon purchased Whole Foods. For some things they're the best in town, other things are outlandishly priced. In one year skirt steak has gone up $8/lb to $19.99!! Be ready to hit a second store if shopping though. They are regularly "out of" basic things by 7pm. (e.g. milk, berries, yogurt)
Kevin M Combes a year ago2024 UPDATE: Amazon discontinued the use of Just Walk Out technology at its grocery stores. This Whole Foods has changed back to a traditional checkout system for all customers. The review below reflects the previous experience with the technology available. Very cutting-edge store, the first Whole Foods to open with Amazon's Just Walk Out technology. However, the other recent review from a Local Guide has some inaccuracies. You are *not* required to use the Just Walk Out technology. There are traditional self-checkouts if you prefer. When you enter the store, you choose which way you'd like to shop. If you do want to use Just Walk Out (and I recommend it), you do NOT need to be a Prime Member. You can use an in-store code from the Amazon/Whole Foods app, set up palm scanning (Amazon One), or use a credit card. Just Walk Out cuts out so many steps from shopping. You can put things into your bag as you shop, and you don't have to take them out again until you get home. I was so impressed with how well it works, even with complex items like loose bars of soap set out on a table, the self-serve hot bar/salad bar (which is priced by the box here), and the deli. As of November 2023, this store has eliminated the entry gates. You can walk in freely like any other grocery store. When you are ready to check out, you can go to self-checkout, or you can head straight to the Just Walk Out exits, scan your phone/card/palm, and be on your way. The selection here is exactly what you'd expect from any other Whole Foods. It's really impressive how the Just Walk Out technology has been scaled up to a store this size, with such a large selection. The quality is great. I went out of my way to shop here because I'm a fan of the technology. I can't wait for this to come to a neighborhood closer to where I live.
