04/14/2026 I've never been in this market before so I gave it a try. What caught my attention other than their products is their hot foods. They have a coffee shop, Chinese foods, Bbq tritip, and a buffet styled island. I ordered fried rice, orange chicken, tritip, and the $4 cookie. I was also surprised to learn that this place was a retaurant once upon a time (in the 50's - 60's) according to some locals.

Worst catering experience I've ever had. I ordered the "20 sandwich halves" platter, which promises "Your choice of ten sandwiches, served on assorted bread, lettuce and tomato. Includes mayonnaise and mustard on the side." What I got was ten WHOLE sandwiches, ALL on white bread, each wrapped in paper. With a half hour before guests arrived, I had to try and cut them myself. The bread was so soft, you couldn't hold a half without the filling falling out, so I cut them in quarters, which continued to fall apart. The tuna sandwiches were so soggy, I had to throw them out. All white bread sandwiches? It felt like what I'd serve to elementary school children (actually, I'm sure modern children get much healthier lunches). Didn't get the mustard and mayo. Ordered the veggie platter, but didn't get the hummus Called and texted the catering department all afternoon, got no response. No response today. I've attached a photo from their catering website, along with a photo of what I ended up with.

Historical plaque inscription: Chasen’s A Legendary Hollywood Haunt 1936-1995 Through its doors on Beverly Boulevard walked movie stars and moguls, dignitaries and presidents. They came to see and be seen, and to enjoy Dave Chasen's world famous chili. The main dining room and street facade of the original restaurant remain.

We got some very good vodka and fresh fruits here. Clean store with helpful staff.

Lots of interesting foods that you don't find at your average grocery store. They have the largest shrimp I've ever seen! Bakery items are extensive as are the hot foods bars and salads. Frozen foods are unique, but not comprehensive. It's a fun place to shop where they offer free wine samples, similar to Erewhon. Like and follow for more great reviews!
