I remember when H-E-B used to be big on customer service this H-E-B is by far the worst H-E-B I have ever been to. I’ve been to a lot of H-E-B‘s in Texas and this is the worst one. I’m in a good mood. They’re playing good music and I get to the register not one hello the cashier and her bagger not even making eye contact with me and they’re talking about their plans for the weekend and What concerts have they been to? They don’t even know I’m there but yet she’s scanning my groceries. And let’s not even mention the freezer section being down for What seemed like two weeks absolutely low rated store and I cannot make this up!

just had one of the most ridiculous experiences I’ve ever had at H-E-B, and I’m still trying to figure out how something this simple turned into a full-blown ordeal. All I needed was a few basic items. I got in line like a normal human being. An employee “encouraged” me to go to self-checkout—I said I was fine waiting. Next thing I know, I’m being physically guided over there anyway. Not asked. Not suggested. Guided. Already off to a great start. Then I find out only ONE self-checkout lane takes cash. So now I’ve gone from almost being done to standing there waiting while people cut in front like it’s some kind of free-for-all being orchestrated by staff. Finally get to the machine… and it’s broken. Won’t take bills. Won’t take coins. I hit the help button. Nothing. I look over—the guy running self-checkout is fully aware the machine is acting up and is too busy joking around with coworkers to bother helping. So now I’m standing there feeding money into a machine like I’m trying to appease a slot machine from hell. In. Out. Rejected. Repeat. For way longer than it should take to buy ramen and dog food. Eventually I manage to get almost everything through except a few cents. At this point I’ve been there close to an hour with zero help, so I leave the remaining change on the machine and walk out. Didn’t even make it to my car. I get grabbed by my hoodie by an off-duty cop working security and dragged back inside because I didn’t have a receipt. Over a few cents. After fighting a broken machine. After asking for help that never came. We get back to the register… and surprise—there’s money sitting right there covering the balance. And just like that: “You’re good to go.” No apology. No acknowledgment. Nothing. Look—I’m not expecting a red carpet when I go grocery shopping. But I do expect: - Not to be physically handled when I say I’m fine in line - Not to be forced onto broken equipment - Not to be ignored when I ask for help - And definitely not to be grabbed by security over a situation your own store caused H-E-B has a reputation for doing things right. This location is not living up to it. If you’re in management and somehow reading this — despite every experience I’ve had at this store suggesting “nope, we don’t care” is the unofficial policy — then please take this seriously: do better. Not eventually. Not after another customer gets brushed off or marginalized. Now. Side note: It will be a very long time before I step foot in this grocery store again. And that says something considering my next option is 3 to 5 mi away and that turns a quick "milk run" into almost actually a real errand.

Usually have a good experience here with all the staff very friendly and very professional. There was one today that just looked like she didn’t want to be there today. I was checking out and she asked me how many bags I need and normally the cashier would tell me how many they think. This one just had attitude and said we can’t tell you how many. So I said 2 she threw 2 bags at me and I guess I wasn’t bagging fast enough and she grabbed the other bag and just started dumping all my groceries in the other bag. I then asked for a 3rd bag and then she rolled her eyes at me and was mad that I took the items she threw out to rebag in the 3rd bag. I do know her name but I’m not putting it on here in case she’s a minor. But come on HEB something needs to be done with this employee.

Some of the kindest and most professional management I have ever had the pleasure of being supported by. My seeing dog could not locate the fresh tortillas. I left dismayed, believing this was the one HEB location that did not offer fresh tortillas. The scent of corn masa abounded, yet Jojo was unable to locate them. One short phone call to management later, and I was thrilled to hear about the wide selection of freshly made tortillas, every day—flour; corn; whole wheat; and combinations I’d never dreamed of, like 50/50 whole wheat and flour. The fresh baked tortillas have been a reason to return, again and again, to H-E-B Lamar. Gracias, gerente. Mucho gusto.

I had a terrible experience with Crystal on 5/18/26 after 3pm while getting my money order printed and requesting stamps. She was extremely rude, had a bad attitude, and acted like helping me was an inconvenience. This is exactly why I avoid shopping at this location. The customer service there is consistently disappointing. I’d honestly recommend going to another HEB, like the one at Tech Ridge, if you want a better experience.
